Video Assignments – How to Remove a Grade Item that is automatically created

UPDATE: Bongo Virtual Classroom and all of its services have been discontinued as of May 26, 2024.  ALL RECORDINGS HAVE BEEN DELETED and CANNOT BE RECOVERED.

The Bongo Video Assignment tool automatically creates an associated Grade Item in the Grades tool when an assignment is graded, saved and published, making it difficult to use Video Assignments in a non evaluative way. The following job aid will explain how you can remove associations from Grade Items created by Video Assignments allowing you to use them without a graded component (for example: if you want to use the Video Assignment so that students can record greetings for a class introduction)

This tutorial assumes that you have already created your Video Assignment and students have already submitted their assignment.

First Go to Grades > Manage Grades to locate the desired Grade Item. Take note of the “?” in a black circle under the Association column. This means this Grade Item has an association and cannot be deleted (yet).

Click Content on the NavBar.

Locate the Module or Sub-module where you have placed your Video Assignment and click on the Video Assignment.

Once you are on the Video Assignment page, scroll down to the tools at very bottom and select “Activity details“. In the area on the right, click underneath “Assessment“,

Change the Assessment to “No Grade” and then click Save.

Now go back to Grades > Manage Grades and you will see that the association is no longer there meaning you can now delete this Grade Item.
