Go to your course, select Activities > Assignments > Edit Categories

Select Add Category > enter name for category > Create > Close (repeat if necessary)

** New category headings will not be visible until an assignment is added to the category. Non categorized items will be placed at the top of list by default. To add an assignment to a category, see next tab below

Go to your course, select Activities > Assignments

Select the dropdown arrow beside the uncategorized assignment > Edit Folder

Under the Submission & Completion tab > select the drop down under Category > New category

Enter a name for category > Create

The assignment will now be placed under the newly created category > Save and Close

Your new category heading will be listed. Non categorized items will be placed at the top of list by default

Go to your course > select Grades > Manage Grades > New > Category

Enter a name for your category > Save and Close  (or select Save and New to create more categories)

Go to your course > select Grades > Manage Grades > select dropdown arrow beside the uncategorized grade item > Edit

Under the Properties tab > select New Category

Enter name for category > Save

The newly created category will be listed under the grade item > Save and Close

Select Activities > Quizzes > Edit Categories

Select the Add Category button

Enter category name

To add additional categories, repeat steps above > Save and Close. Select Quiz to categorize > Edit >

Attempts & Completion tab > Category dropdown > select Category > Save and Close

From the main quizzes page, the quiz will be placed under the newly created category name.

Select Activities > Quizzes > select Quiz > Edit or create New Quiz

Under the Attempts & Completion tab > select the category dropdown > New Category

Enter name for new category > Create

The system will automatically assign the newly created category to the quiz > Save and Close

From the main quizzes page, the quiz will be placed under the newly created category name.

From the quizzes page, select the items to categorize (1) > Bulk Edit (2)

Selet add category >

Enter name for new category > Save

From the dropdown, select the new category name for the selected items > Save

From the quizzes page, the selected items will be placed under the newly created category name.
