Media Gallery Options

This job aid will focus specifically on the options available to instructors regarding Media Gallery options menu. To access the Media Gallery options first log into your course, click Media Gallery and then click on the options icon to open the menu.

Edit

To change settings for the whole Media Gallery area, click the Channel Actions menu at the top right above the Add Media button, and select Edit.

Here you can add a Description and Tags for your Course Media gallery, as well as turn the following Options on or off.

  • Moderate content – prevents others (for example, students) from adding media to the Course Media Gallery without your approval.
  • Enable comments in Media Gallery – allows students to add comments to media within the Media Gallery. This is useful if you are using the Media Gallery for student presentations and want other students to comment on presentation videos.
  • Keep comments private to Media Gallery – means that comments on a video will not appear anywhere else that video appears.
  • Display Embedded Media in This Gallery – will automatically display any Kaltura media that is embedded inside the Contents Area of your course

Analytics

The Analytics tool will allow you to see statistical information concerning the course Media Gallery.

 

Import

Clicking on the Import option will automatically list every course you are enrolled in as an Instructor that has an active Media Gallery.

Select the course who’s Media Gallery you would like to import and all of the videos listed inside that course’s Media Gallery will automatically be copied into the Media Gallery you are currently on.

Playlists

You can also create Playlists of your Kaltura media in Media Gallery by clicking the option + Create Channel Playlist

Give your Playlist a Title, as well as a Description and Tags if needed, then click Add.

To add media to your Playlist, click Add to Playlist.

Scroll down and click the + (plus) buttons next to the videos you want to put into your new Playlist. They will then appear in the left-hand panel. When you have added all the videos belonging in the Playlist, click Save.

To edit your playlist, click the Playlists then, then click the pencil icon for the playlist you want to edit. To delete it, click the trash can icon. You can also move a playlist within a list of multiple playlists by holding your mouse button on the symbol to the left of the playlist title and dragging it up or down.

You can go back at any time and add additional videos to an existing playlist, and you can have multiple playlists in the Course Media gallery. For example, you may want a playlist for each Module or Chapter or Topic in your course.

You can even use playlists for student presentations or assignments, for example if a group of students is creating a set of videos, you could have then share those videos to the Course Media gallery, and then create playlists out of them.
