Add a Welcome Message to Your Course Homepage

The News page is the first thing students see when they enter your course. Leaving it blank can feel uninviting and may confuse students about where to begin. A simple welcome message helps set the tone and makes your course feel more professional and approachable.

Why Add a Welcome Message?

A welcome message:

  • Reassures students they’re in the right course
  • Sets a friendly, inclusive tone
  • Introduces you as the instructor
  • Outlines key expectations and communication methods
  • Helps students get started with confidence

📌 Tip: Include your preferred contact method and email address so students know how to reach you.

For help using the News Item tool to create, update, delete, dismiss, or pin messages, visit this guide.
