How to Make A Course Active (Visible to Students)

From the navigation bar in your course, select Edit Course > under Site Setup select > Course Offering Information

Select the Course is active box

An active course will make the course visible to students.

Why can students see the course, but cannot access the course?

  • An active course will be accessible for students on the start date of the course.
  • An active course will not be accessible to students after the end date of the course.

Closed course

Changing the end date of a course to one in the past, will label the course as CLOSED and be visible to students but they won’t be able to access/enter it.

From a student’s point of view, their course will show as Closed

Inactive course

Making a course inactive will make the course disappear from the Learning Hub which could prompt concern from students. If you need to edit content and don’t want students to access the course, best practice is to change the end date to one in the past, make your changes, and then reopen the course.
