Class for Teams – Navigating Seating Chart and Views

Use the Seating Chart to view Class members in different ways based on what is happening in the virtual classroom. And use View to toggle between Gallery and Speaker views.

Note:

You can only see a maximum of 9 videos on your screen at a time. Use the arrows on the left and right of the video gallery to see more.

Seating Chart

The Seating Chart gives you a way to view the class videos in different ways based on what is happening in the virtual classroom. Only instructors have a seating chart.

Alphabetical shows everyone listed on the screen in alphabetical order by first or last name.

Hand Raised shows anyone with their hand raised before the rest of the videos. The Gallery View updates in real time to show you who has their hand raised at the top of your screen. They appear in order of who has their hand raised the longest.

Feedback shows anyone with a reaction before the rest of the videos. The Gallery View updates in real time to show you who has a reaction at the top of your screen. Newest feedback is shown first and only available for instructors to see.

Participation shows everyone by the level of their participation in Class. The Gallery View updates in real time to show the class in three groups:

  • Below class average: These are people who haven’t spoken or are in the bottom third of the total talk time for the class. This group appears first with a red bar next to their videos.
  • Class average: These people have talked for the average amount of time. They are the middle third of speakers in the class. This group appears after the bottom third with a yellow bar next to their videos.
  • Above class average: These people have talked more than the rest of the class. They are in the top third of speakers in the class. This group follows the other groups with a green bar next to their videos.

View

Everyone in the class can organize the videos on their screen by Gallery and Speaker views. These view options are available to everybody in the class and change only their personal view.

Gallery View displays the entire class and is enabled/selected by default when starting a Class session. When Class members select the Gallery View, all Class members appear in the classroom in the order in which they joined the class.

Speaker View shows who is currently speaking only. If you select Speaker View, it changes your screen only. Use the Front of Room option in your Seating Chart to force everyone to see the speaker at the top of their view.

Privacy mode

Use Privacy Mode to restrict who can see learner videos. There are three options:

  • On for all Participants: Learners can not see another learner’s video. They can only see instructor, presenter, and assistant videos. Instructors can still see learner videos.
  • Off for all Participants: Learners can see all videos whenever their cameras are on in Class, including other learners. Off is selected by default.
  • Let Participants Decide: Allow learners to choose if they want other learners to see their video. Instructors can still see learner videos.

Instructors can always see learner videos, no matter how privacy mode is configured.

The easiest way to know if a user has privacy mode enabled is by checking to see if there is a slashed eye icon next to their name in the Gallery View.

Privacy Mode only makes a video feed private, not audio.
