Quizzes – How to Print Quiz Questions (Using Quiz Preview)
Currently, quizzes can’t be printed directly from the Learning Hub. This guide offers two workarounds—one for Chrome and one for Firefox (recommended).
Chrome Method:
Create a submission view, then copy and paste the quiz into Microsoft Word. Note: Images won’t copy over and must be added manually.
Firefox Method (Best Option):
Use Firefox to print the quiz with proper formatting and images. See the end of this guide for detailed steps.
Chrome Method
Step 1 - Select the quiz to print
Select Activities > Quizzes and then click on the quiz you would like to edit or choose the dropdown beside and click Edit
Step 2 - Evaluation & Feedback
Under the Evaluation & Feedback section
- Deselect “Auto-publish“
- From the dropdown menu, choose “All questions, without correct answers“
- Click Customize Quiz Results Displays
Step 3 - Edit View
Select Edit View
Step 4 - Displaying questions
Deselect all 4 choices > Ok > Save & Close
Step 5 - Preview the Quiz
- From Quizzes main page, select the dropdown beside the quiz > select PREVIEW
- Select the Start Quiz button
- Scroll down to the bottom and press Submit Quiz
Step 6 - Copy and Paste
Select all by using quick keyboard keys (Ctrl A or Command A on a mac) and then copy (Ctrl C or Command C – mac). Depending on the quiz format, however, it may be better to hold down you left mouse button to highlight the content to be copied. Right click on the highlight and select “copy”.
Open a new blank Word page and then Right click on the Word document. Then select Paste Options and click Unformatted Text.
Note: Pictures will not copy over. You will have to manually copy each picture (right click an image and select “copy image”) and paste and format it in your Word document. The Firefox workaround (bottom of this job aid) is a better option for printing quizzes in general and quizzes with images.
Once text has been copied over, click “exit preview” in the upper right corner of the browser screen. Then clean up formatting, Save and Print.
Firefox print option
** This option will only work with Firefox **
Follow Steps 1 – 5 (listed above). Next, on the quiz page, right-click on the area that contains quiz questions. From the menu option (Preview the Quiz), choose This Frame > Print Frame.
From the Print Preview window, set the print settings as you like (Double sided, scale, etc.), select your printer and click the Print button. Your quiz questions may be printed on the same page or on several pages, depending on the length of your quiz. You also have the option to Save as PDF.
Save and open in the desired folder on your computer.
IMPORTANT:
Once you are finished, don’t forget to change your “Default View” and all “Additional Views” back to their original settings, if necessary. Otherwise, students see (and have access to) all the questions when they submit their quiz.
