Kaltura BSE – Custom Players

Kaltura Browse and Embed (BSE) allow users to embed their media using specialized players. Custom players can be selected using the ‘Select a player’ option on the Customize Embed page of any Kaltura BSE tool (see Kaltura Browse and Embed (BSE) – Overview).

Available players depend on the specific entry’s media type. Below is a reference table of the custom players available:

Media Entry Type Player name and description
Video Entry
  • V7 – Default Kaltura video player settings.
  • V7 Download – Enables viewers to download the video file.
  • V7 No Skip – Video seeking and speed controls are disabled, preventing users from fast-forwarding.
Audio Entry
  • Audio – Standard Kaltura audio player settings.
  • Audio Download – Enables viewers to download the audio file.
Quiz Entry
  • Quiz – Default Kaltura quiz player settings.
  • Quiz No Skip – Video seeking and speed controls are disabled, preventing users from fast-forwarding.
Playlist Entry
  • Playlists – Default Kaltura playlist player settings

YouTube Players

At the time of writing this article YouTube entries cannot be configured to use specialised players. BSE embeds using YouTube videos default to (and are only compatible with) the Kaltura V7 video player.
