McGraw Hill – SIMnet (Textbook) Student Guide
Some course instructors may choose to create and teach their courses using resources provided by the McGraw textbook publisher. In such cases students will have to purchase their textbooks online through McGraw Hill directly or by using an access code provided by the BCIT Bookstore. In additional to this, students will also have to create an account with McGraw Hill.
The following guide will show you how get started using McGraw Hill SIMnet inside your course on the Learning Hub.
Please check with your instructor
Please note that the instructions provided down below do not apply to all situations and it is always recommended that you contact your course instructor directly for all questions related to accessing material inside your specific course.
McGraw Hill SIMnet - How to Access and Register
Create an account
Inside your course, click on Content and then click the material that your instructor has created.

Click on Create Account to create your SIMnet account.

Purchase Textbooks
Once you have created an account, you may gain access to your SIMnet textbooks either by paying for access directly, activating a registration code purchased from the BCIT Bookstore, or by using courtesy access.
-
- Pay for access – You can make a payment online directly to McGraw Hill to access your textbooks and course materials using a one time payment with a credit card.
- Add a registration code – If you purchased a textbook or a redemption code from the BCIT Bookstore, type the code into the Code text box. Once you have finished typing in the code, click the Add My Code button.
After successfully adding a code you will get a confirmation window that will return you to your Assignments screen or Registration screen. - Courtesy access – If you are not sure what to purchase for your course or are waiting on financial aid, you can access course materials for a brief trial period (14 days) before you need to purchase access.
Enroll in your course
On the Courses tab you can see all courses you are currently enrolled in. If you are not enrolled in any courses, you will see No Data in the Enrolled Courses section. Click the Add a course button to review the available courses at your school.

Select from the Available Courses menu the courses you would like to enroll in by clicking the + Enroll button. You may filter your options by selecting a Campus from the drop-down menu or typing in a course name in the Filter available courses… text box. If a course is not available in the Enrollment Availability column, your instructor will need to add you to that course.

A confirmation notification will appear. If you have already activated a code or courtesy access, you will receive a notification that will guide you to View Assignments in your course.

If you have not yet purchased access or activated courtesy access, you will get a notification that will guide you to purchase a code or get courtesy access.

Once you have enrolled, the course will appear in your Enrolled Courses list. You can activate courtesy access by clicking on the Activate Courtesy Access button. You can remove your enrolment in a specific course by clicking the x Remove button.
