Preferred Name Request Form for the Learning Hub

Your preferred name is the name you commonly use and wish to be called, which may differ from your legal first name. This form allows you to request that your preferred name be displayed in the Learning Hub.

Important Notes:

• If your preferred first name is the same as your legal first name, you do not need to complete this form.
• Changes to your last name must be made through the Student Information and Enrolment Services office.
• If your last name is hyphenated, it can be shortened in the Learning Hub (e.g., Smith-Doe can be displayed as Smith or Doe).

Please note: This change only affects your name in the Learning Hub and does not update your name in Banner/Registration.

Note: If your preferred first name is the same as your legal first name, you DO NOT NEED TO COMPLETE this form. 

This only changes your name in the Learning Hub, not in Banner/Registration. You can request to change the information that BCIT uses to contact you in the Online Self Service section of myBCIT. This includes your phone number, address, and email address.
