Kaltura Mediaspace

Kaltura Mediaspace is BCIT’s public-facing media repository, providing programs, schools, and departments with a central platform to store, organize, share, and showcase multimedia content. Content published to Mediaspace can be accessed at mediaspace.bcit.ca.

Creating content

Faculty, staff, and students must first sign in to Kaltura Mediaspace through the BCIT portal to access My Media and media creation tools. Once signed in, users can upload media directly to Mediaspace or use Kaltura Capture to record audio, video, and screen content.

All media is stored in My Media, a personal repository associated with the user’s account, where content can be managed and organized.

Faculty who use Kaltura in the Learning Hub should be aware that the My Media repository is shared across both the Learning Hub and Kaltura Mediaspace. Any media created or uploaded in one platform is automatically accessible in the other, enabling users to create, manage, and publish content from either environment.

While much of the available documentation references My Media within the Learning Hub, the same processes and principles apply when using My Media in Kaltura Mediaspace.

Publishing Content

To publish media in Mediaspace, you must have access to an existing Mediaspace repository (channel or category). Access to private repositories requires administrator approval. If you know the repository manager, contact them directly to request access. Otherwise, submit a request to learninghub@bcit.ca.

Administrator Access

Repository management is typically reserved for program administrators, coordinators, and designated departmental staff. Faculty members interested in hosting content should contact their program administrator, who can work with ETS on their behalf. Program administrators who would like to establish a Mediaspace repository for their department can contact learninghub@bcit.ca for additional information.
