Kaltura – Recycling Bin
With Kaltura’s recycle bin, you no longer have to worry about accidentally deleting an entry or changing your mind afterwards because the recycle bin allows you to delete entries with an option to restore them later. Not only will the item be restored it to its rightful place, but its original name, tags, details, metadata and functionality will also be restored.
How to delete your videos (send to Recycling Bin)
From Kaltura My Media, click the trash can icon next to the entry you want to delete.
OR If you want to delete more than one entry, click the boxes next to each one and then go to the Actions menu and choose Delete
A confirmation message will display once you attempt to delete the selected video(s)
If you click Approve the deleted video(s) will be sent to the recycling bin.
30 Day Retention
Videos sent to Kaltura’s recycling bin will be available for 30 days. During this time the video can be either restored or permanently deleted. If no action has taken place after 30 days the video will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered by ETS or Kaltura
How restore deleted videos (from Recycling bin)
If you have deleted videos inside your recyling bin that you would like to restore please follow these steps:
Restoring a single item
Go to Kaltura My Media inside your Learning Hub course and select the My Recycling Bin button
Here you can see all the media items that have been deleted.
The publish status of each item is grey. If you click on it, you can see where the media was originally published. For non-published status (such as private and unlisted) the status won’t be clickable, and nothing will happen when hovering over it.
To restore the item, click the restore icon . A confirmation message displays.
Choose either Restore the item should now be recovered and restored to its original place inside My Media
Restoring multiple Items
Go to Kaltura My Media inside your Learning Hub course and select the My Recycling Bin button
Here you can see all the media items that have been deleted.
If there are many items in the Recycle Bin, you can use the Filters function to search the media items by type.
Click the boxes next to each media item you want to restore and from the Actions menu, choose Restore
A confirmation message displays.
Choose Restore to restore all of the selected items into My Media
How permanently delete videos
This action is irreversible
Permanently deleting a single item
Go to Kaltura My Media inside your Learning Hub course and select the My Recycling Bin button
Here you can see all the media items that have been deleted.
Click the trash can icon next to the item. A warning message displays.
Click Delete to permanently deleted the item.
Permanently deleting a multiple items
Go to Kaltura My Media inside your Learning Hub course and select the My Recycling Bin button
Here you can see all the media items that have been deleted.
If there are many media items in the Recycle bin, you can use the Search and Filters to find the items.
Choose the boxes next to the items you want to permanently delete and from the Actions menu, choose Delete.
A warning message displays.
click Delete
Permanently deleting ALL items (Empty Recyling Bin)
Go to Kaltura My Media inside your Learning Hub course and select the My Recycling Bin button
To delete ALL items inside your Recycling Bin click on the Empty Recycle Bin button
A warning message will appear asking you to confirm the permanently deletion of all items inside the recycling bin.
Click Delete clear your recycling bin
